Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Stay Informed and Take Action
Dear NU Community,
🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, with over 2 million cases diagnosed globally each year. However, with regular screenings and early intervention, survival rates significantly improve, making early detection a crucial step in the fight against this disease.
At NU, we encourage all women to take proactive steps toward their health by undergoing regular screenings. According to the national health screening program, women who are citizens or residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, aged 40-70, are eligible for a free mammogram at their registered polyclinics every two years.
For international employees with family members, it is recommended to contact BUPA or Allianz to arrange mammogram screenings through private healthcare providers.
In addition, women can take advantage of free breast cancer screening at the State Cancer Centers on October 19 during an Open Day event from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a valuable opportunity to get screened without the need for an appointment.
We also invite you to join us for a special Breast Cancer Awareness Event on October 18, 2024, in the Upper Atrium. This event, organized by NU students’ project (SDF), will provide insightful information on breast cancer prevention, risk factors, and the importance of self-examinations. Engage with health professionals, ask questions, and learn how you can take charge of your health.
Let’s stand together in raising awareness and encouraging proactive health measures. Your health is in your hands – let’s take action today!
